5 Times Table

The 5 times table has a clear pattern: the answers end in 5 and 0, taking turns. A handy shortcut is half of the 10 times fact: 5 × 8 is half of 80, which is 40.

All facts of the 5 times table

Read the table aloud once, then cover the answers and say them from memory.

  • 5 × 1 = 5
  • 5 × 2 = 10
  • 5 × 3 = 15
  • 5 × 4 = 20
  • 5 × 5 = 25
  • 5 × 6 = 30
  • 5 × 7 = 35
  • 5 × 8 = 40
  • 5 × 9 = 45
  • 5 × 10 = 50

How to remember it

Times 5 is half of times 10: 5 × 8 = 80 ÷ 2 = 40. Answers end in 0 or 5.

How to solve this

  • The ×5 table is simple: results always end in 0 (even multiplicands) or 5 (odd multiplicands).
  • Count up the ×5 sequence: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50.
  • Check: is the last digit 0 or 5? If not, the answer is wrong.

Examples

5 × 4 = ?

20

__ × 5 = 35

7

5 + 5 + 5 = ?

15
