Times tables 11–20

19 Times Table

Nineteen is just one less than twenty, so 19 × 6 = 20 × 6 − 6 = 120 − 6 = 114. The same subtraction works for every fact up to 19 × 12 = 228 and for prices like $19.

All facts of the 19 times table

Read the table aloud once, then cover the answers and say them from memory.

  • 19 × 1 = 19
  • 19 × 2 = 38
  • 19 × 3 = 57
  • 19 × 4 = 76
  • 19 × 5 = 95
  • 19 × 6 = 114
  • 19 × 7 = 133
  • 19 × 8 = 152
  • 19 × 9 = 171
  • 19 × 10 = 190
  • 19 × 11 = 209
  • 19 × 12 = 228

How to remember it

Times 19 is times 20 minus one group: 19 × 6 = 120 − 6 = 114.

How to multiply by 19

  • 19 is one less than 20, so 19 × n = 20 × n − n.
  • 20 × n is double n with a zero: 20 × 8 = 160, so 19 × 8 = 160 − 8 = 152.
  • The ones digit counts down: 19, 38, 57, 76, 95, 114, 133, 152, 171, 190 end in 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.
  • Prices work the same way: 4 books at $19 cost 4 × $20 − $4 = $76.
