Times tables 11–20

18 Times Table

Multiplying by 18 is easiest from the 20s: 18 × 7 is 20 × 7 minus 2 × 7, so 140 − 14 = 126. Doubling the 9 times table gives the same answers and is a handy way to check.

All facts of the 18 times table

Read the table aloud once, then cover the answers and say them from memory.

  • 18 × 1 = 18
  • 18 × 2 = 36
  • 18 × 3 = 54
  • 18 × 4 = 72
  • 18 × 5 = 90
  • 18 × 6 = 108
  • 18 × 7 = 126
  • 18 × 8 = 144
  • 18 × 9 = 162
  • 18 × 10 = 180
  • 18 × 11 = 198
  • 18 × 12 = 216

How to remember it

Times 18 is times 20 minus times 2: 18 × 7 = 140 − 14 = 126.

How to multiply by 18

  • 18 is close to 20, and the 20s are easy. Multiply by 20, then take away two groups: 18 × 6 = 120 − 12 = 108.
  • Or double the 9s: 9 × 7 = 63, so 18 × 7 = 126.
  • The digits of every answer add up to 9 or 18: 126 → 1 + 2 + 6 = 9, and 198 → 1 + 9 + 8 = 18.
  • Every answer is even, and the ones digits repeat 8, 6, 4, 2, 0.

Worked examples
