Times tables 11–20

12 Times Table

The 12 times table is 10 times plus 2 times: 12 × 7 = 70 + 14 = 84. Children who know the 2s and the 10s can work out every fact up to 12 × 12 = 144, and the 12s show up everywhere from egg boxes to the months of the year.

All facts of the 12 times table

Read the table aloud once, then cover the answers and say them from memory.

  • 12 × 1 = 12
  • 12 × 2 = 24
  • 12 × 3 = 36
  • 12 × 4 = 48
  • 12 × 5 = 60
  • 12 × 6 = 72
  • 12 × 7 = 84
  • 12 × 8 = 96
  • 12 × 9 = 108
  • 12 × 10 = 120
  • 12 × 11 = 132
  • 12 × 12 = 144

How to remember it

Times 12 is times 10 plus times 2: 12 × 7 = 70 + 14 = 84.

How to multiply by 12

  • Split 12 into 10 and 2: 12 × 6 = 10 × 6 + 2 × 6 = 60 + 12 = 72.
  • Or double the 6s: 6 × 8 = 48, so 12 × 8 = 96.
  • Learn two anchor facts, 12 × 5 = 60 and 12 × 10 = 120. From there, 12 × 9 = 120 − 12 = 108 and 12 × 11 = 120 + 12 = 132.
  • Every answer is even, and the ones digits repeat 2, 4, 6, 8, 0.
