Times tables 11–20

20 Times Table

The 20 times table is the 2 times table with a zero: 2 × 7 = 14, so 20 × 7 = 140. It is the quickest of the tables from 11 to 20 and the starting point for the 18s and 19s.

All facts of the 20 times table

Read the table aloud once, then cover the answers and say them from memory.

  • 20 × 1 = 20
  • 20 × 2 = 40
  • 20 × 3 = 60
  • 20 × 4 = 80
  • 20 × 5 = 100
  • 20 × 6 = 120
  • 20 × 7 = 140
  • 20 × 8 = 160
  • 20 × 9 = 180
  • 20 × 10 = 200
  • 20 × 11 = 220
  • 20 × 12 = 240

How to remember it

Times 20 is times 2 with a zero: 2 × 7 = 14, so 20 × 7 = 140.

How to multiply by 20

  • 20 = 2 × 10. Double the number, then add a zero: 8 doubled is 16, so 20 × 8 = 160.
  • Or add the zero first and then double: 10 × 8 = 80, and 80 doubled is 160.
  • Every answer ends in 0, and the digits before the zero are the 2 times table: 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120 …
  • Counting by 20s is counting by 2s with a zero at the end.

Patterns that help you check

The 20s are the base for two other tables: 19 × n is one group less (20 × 6 = 120, 19 × 6 = 114) and 18 × n is two groups less (18 × 6 = 108).

Examples
