Times tables 11–20

13 Times Table

There is no need to memorize the 13 times table from scratch: split 13 into 10 and 3. 13 × 6 is 60 + 18 = 78, and the same two small steps work for every fact up to 13 × 12 = 156.

All facts of the 13 times table

Read the table aloud once, then cover the answers and say them from memory.

  • 13 × 1 = 13
  • 13 × 2 = 26
  • 13 × 3 = 39
  • 13 × 4 = 52
  • 13 × 5 = 65
  • 13 × 6 = 78
  • 13 × 7 = 91
  • 13 × 8 = 104
  • 13 × 9 = 117
  • 13 × 10 = 130
  • 13 × 11 = 143
  • 13 × 12 = 156

How to remember it

Times 13 is times 10 plus times 3: 13 × 6 = 60 + 18 = 78.

How to multiply by 13

  • Split 13 into 10 + 3, so 13 × n = 10 × n + 3 × n.
  • The 10s part is easy (add a zero), and the 3s part comes from the 3 times table you already know.
  • Anchor facts: 13 × 5 = 65 and 13 × 10 = 130. From there, 13 × 9 = 130 − 13 = 117.
  • Check the ones digit: it is the ones digit of 3 × n. 13 × 7 ends in 1 because 3 × 7 = 21.

Worked examples

13 × 7

  1. 10 × 7 = 70.
  2. 3 × 7 = 21.
  3. 70 + 21 = 91.

Answer: 13 × 7 = 91

13 × 12

  1. 10 × 12 = 120.
  2. 3 × 12 = 36.
  3. 120 + 36 = 156.

Answer: 13 × 12 = 156

A baker’s dozen is 13: 4 baker’s dozens of rolls are 4 × 13 = 52 rolls.

Patterns that help you check

From 13 × 1 to 13 × 10 the ones digits are 3, 6, 9, 2, 5, 8, 1, 4, 7, 0. Every digit appears exactly once, so two answers in that range never end the same way.

Examples

13 × 4 = ?

52

13 × __ = 91

7

13 + 13 + 13 = ?
