Times tables 11–20

17 Times Table

Seventeen is a prime number, so the best tool is splitting it into 10 and 7: 17 × 6 = 60 + 42 = 102. This page shows that method step by step, with anchor facts that make the hardest of the teen tables manageable.

All facts of the 17 times table

Read the table aloud once, then cover the answers and say them from memory.

  • 17 × 1 = 17
  • 17 × 2 = 34
  • 17 × 3 = 51
  • 17 × 4 = 68
  • 17 × 5 = 85
  • 17 × 6 = 102
  • 17 × 7 = 119
  • 17 × 8 = 136
  • 17 × 9 = 153
  • 17 × 10 = 170
  • 17 × 11 = 187
  • 17 × 12 = 204

How to remember it

Times 17 is times 10 plus times 7: 17 × 6 = 60 + 42 = 102.

How to multiply by 17

  • 17 is a prime number, so there is no doubling shortcut. Split it into 10 + 7 instead.
  • The 7s part is the hardest step, so revise the 7 times table first.
  • Anchor facts: 17 × 5 = 85 and 17 × 10 = 170. From there, 17 × 9 = 170 − 17 = 153.
  • Or count back from 20: 17 × 4 = 80 − 12 = 68.
