Rounding numbers
Rounding numbers helps children practise rounding three-digit numbers to the nearest ten or hundred, using the midpoint rule. Read the short guide and look through the examples before choosing online practice or a printable worksheet.
How to solve this
- To round to the nearest ten, look at the ones digit: 0–4 → round down, 5–9 → round up.
- To round to the nearest hundred, look at the tens digit: 0–4 → round down, 5–9 → round up.
- Check: the rounded number must be a full ten (or hundred) and be as close as possible to the original.
