Neighbour numbers
Neighbour numbers helps children practise finding the neighbour hundreds, neighbour tens, and single-step neighbours of three-digit numbers. Read the short guide and look through the examples before choosing online practice or a printable worksheet.
How to solve this
- For numbers to 1000, the left neighbour is n − 1 and the right neighbour is n + 1 — just as before.
- Watch for boundaries: the neighbour of 400 on the left is 399 (hundreds digit decreases).
- Check by counting on the number line: both neighbours must be adjacent to your number.
