Doubling
Doubling means adding a number to itself: double 18 is 18 + 18 = 36. A quick way is to double the tens and the ones separately (20 + 16). Doubles are also a stepping stone to the 2, 4 and 8 times tables.
How to solve this
- Doubling a number means adding it to itself: double 7 is 7 + 7 = 14.
- For two-digit numbers, double the tens and the ones separately, then combine: double 34 = (2×30) + (2×4) = 60 + 8 = 68.
- Check by halving your answer — you must get back the original number.
