Rounding and estimation
Practise rounding to tens, hundreds, thousands, and ten-thousands, then estimate sums and differences.
How to solve this
- Choose the place you are rounding to, then look one digit to the right.
- Digits 0-4 keep the rounding digit the same; digits 5-9 increase it by one.
- For an estimate such as 4920 + 3110, round to 5000 + 3000 and expect an answer near 8000.
