Grade 4 Math

Numbers to 1,000,000

Practise large place-value notation, comparing six-digit numbers, doubling, halving, and simple mental multiplication.

How to solve this

  • Six-digit numbers are easier to read in groups: 458,236 is 458 thousand and 236.
  • Expanded form shows whether every place was understood: 458,236 = 400,000 + 50,000 + 8,000 + 200 + 30 + 6.
  • Mental tasks often use the same structure: 480,000 ÷ 6 works because 48 ÷ 6 = 8, then the thousands stay.
